I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

FZ5 Returns for Season 2
youliftyoulose, Monday, December 10 2012 - 08:24:27 // comment: 3

The 1st race of the 2nd season of the FZ5 series of Absolute Beginners race took place at Fern Bay on the Gold course. Each event
of the FZ5 series consists of 2 individual races, a short sprint race (no mandatory pit stops) and a feature race ( much longer with 1
or more mandatory pit stops). Several drivers have described driving the FZ5 like steering an oil tanker or driving a brick. Course
changes have to be planned well out in advance or you will find yourself pointing in the wrong direction in a hurry. A one lap qualifying
session left Mazdarati on pole with almost a 1 second gap to Muc. Luca, surprised himself and put his car 3rd on the grid as one of
only 3 cars to get under 1:34.

Weaver makes a move on Black as they head into T1 for the 1st time.

Muc briefly takes the lead away from Mazdarati after Mazdarati makes a rare mistake.

Mazdarati crosses the finish line 1st in both FZ5 races.

As the 1st race got underway, Luca took his car in too deep going into T1, letting Black, Daniel and Weaver to get by. Weaver returned
the favour by running to deep into the corner a few turns later. Luca jumped back into 4th, right behind Black.

LucasMcFly came into T1 on the start of lap 2 way too hot, running into the side of Weaver. The resulting spin put LucasMcFly all the way
back into 10th.

Muc made a small braking error going into T1 on lap 2 allowing Black to take 2nd spot. Another bobble on lap 3 let Luca take over 3rd
position. Luca promptly ran onto the grass and gave the spot back just a few corners later.

Daniel quite happy to be in 5th, was having his mirrors filled with Weaver on almost every corner. On lap 4 Luca made another small
error which allowed Daniel to jump into 4th position. Daniel hoping Luca would be able to hold up the hard charging Weaver tried to
get some breathing room. Unfortunately for Daniel, Weaver made short work of Luca passing him as they went into lap 5 and quickly
set his sights on Daniel.

Lap 6 saw Muc try to avoid a spinning back marker, only to find the grass. By the time he recovered he found himself back in 5th,
chasing Daniel and Weaver.

Weaver kept up the pressure on Daniel and by lap 8 forced him into making a slight mistake. Weaver made the most of it and took
over 3rd leaving Daniel to try and hold off the speed Muc. Muc was relentless as he stayed on Daniel’s bumper for several laps,
finally squeezing by with only 4 laps to go.

From the halfway point and on Luca had melted his rear tires and was barely hanging on to stay ahead of LRK-racer and Wheldon.
He hold them off and hung to finish 7th.

Up at the front Mazdarati led every lap and took the victory just in front of Black. Weaver had a great race and took 3rd, giving
notice that this might be his series. Mazdarati was concerned about the temperature of his tires especially since the feature race
would be more than double that of the sprint race.

In the FZ5 series the top 6 finishers have to add engine restrictions for the next race. After the appropriate restrictions had been
added the 2nd race began.

Weaver, full of confidence from his 3rd place finish quickly moved into 2nd in front of Black as they heading into T1 for the first time.

Torberkel avoided a sideways Daniel as they went through the chicane. Torberkel passed Daniel but ended up in the grass and gave
the spot back.

On lap 2 Muc out braked Weaver as they crossed the bridge and took up the chase for Mazdarati. Daniel missed his braking point
at the same spot and gave up several positions to Postal and Wheldon. Torberkel went into T1 deeper than Daniel at the start of
lap 3 putting him down one more position in 8th.

On lap 8 Wheldon got T1 wrong a put his car sideways on the track. Daniel helped him all the way around as he got into his right
rear. LucaMcFly coming fast up on the scene gave Daniel a helping bump from behind. Daniel, coming through the chicane checked
up for an errant tire, allowing LucasMcFly to get by him and take 7th.

After chasing Postal, torberkel and LucasMcFly for several laps, Daniel decided that the easier way by was to pit early and hope
that he could jump them when they made their pit stops. Black and Daniel both pitted on lap 9 seeming to both have the same
strategy.

On lap 13 Mazdarati made a rare mistake and kissed the steel barrier. Muc was quick to seized the opportunity and took the lead.

Daniel’s plan worked to perfection. By lap 16 he had moved ahead of Postal and LucasMcFly. Torberkel made it easy by spinning
his car into the steel barrier letting Daniel move into 5th.

The race settled down somewhat with all cars cycling through their 2nd pit stops.

Except for a brief time Mazdarati led the field from wire to wire even with the extra 3% restriction. Muc took 2nd and Weaver,
still on a roll from the 1st race took 3rd. More restriction to be added for the next FZ5 race so expect the racing get even closer.

See you next week at South City with the UF1.
