I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

The 3 “B’s”, Blackwood, BF1, and Broken Suspension
youliftyoulose, Monday, October 28 2013 - 08:26:05 // comment: 3

Race #3 of the 5th season in the Formula Racing series took place at Blackwood. The F1 looking BF1 was the car designated for this race. This race would be not as much a test of tires but of the suspension as the chicane, if not taken correctly, had a tendency to destroy the fragile parts that held the tires in place.

ERR team mates do a good job of blocking most of the chicane.

Xnyle and Kelle have their cars in an embrace of death in the aftermath of the T1 mayhem.

Michal meeting up with Bandes on one of his many off road excursions.

Not a sight you will see very often, Mazdarati mowing the grass AND sending some tires flying.

Mazdarati uses his 1 lap lead to celebrate victory by leaving whatever is left of his tires on the pavement.

Mazdarati took the pole with a 54:40 with Antti not far adrift. Although only 19 drivers were in attendance, the sub one minute lap would be sure to keep the track busy. The BF1, although the fastest car in the lineup, was also the most fragile and would not take kindly to any 1st lap bumping.

As the race went green, the cars funneled into T1 for the 1st time. Bandes got off the racing surface and overshot T1 and went into the runoff area. He got back onto the track and arrived just in time to see ERR team mates blocking most of the track. As the cars could not be parked in a worse spot the following drivers desperately tried to avoid several cars strewn across the racetrack. Xnyle was sent flying across the track and collected Kelle who was trying to carefully work his way through the carnage. In all, 4 cars had to be towed back to the pits for repairs before they could resume racing.

Up at the front Mazdarati was doing his best to get away from Mostafa and Antti with little success. By lap 3 Mostafa had completed a pass on Mazdarati down the main straight and moved into P1.

On lap 4 Antti figured he would try the same move but got it wrong going through the chicane and ended up in the grass. By the time he got going again he was back in P8.

Just behind Annti, Bandes was having troubles at T1 again as he overshot the corner and ended up in the grass. As his car slid back onto the track and unsuspecting Michal came around the corner and was unable to avoid T-boning Bandes in the side pod, sending him back into the grass.

With all of the problems at the front of the field LRK-racer found himself sitting nicely in P3. Unfortunately he had begun to cook his rear tires and was finding the car un-driveable by lap 6. After a spin just before the pit entrance he decided to pit for a fresh set of tires, dropping him out of contention for a podium.

Mazdarati kept up the pressure on Mostafa and by the time he crossed the start/finish line to begin lap 8 he had moved back into the lead.

Bamdes also decided to pit at the start of lap 8 as his several off track excursions had caused significant damage to his car.

By the time lap 10 rolled around the field had spread out nicely. As there was not mandatory pit stop, the determining factor would be the amount of fuel each driver started with that would dictate when a driver would have to pit.

Disaster almost befell the race leader halfway through lap 10 as Mazdarati came upon a sideways Gredghog sliding across the middle of the track. Unable to avoid contact, Mazdarati tried deflect as much of the impact as he could and headed for the tire barrier which he punched a nice hole through. Luckily the damage was minimal, all that remained was to catch back up to Mostafa and regain the lead again.

On lap 11 Daniel, who had started 13th, was having a good race and was up to P7 when he caught up to toberkel and Michal who were having a battle of their own. As Michal exited the chicane he had to check up a bit for torberkel. Daniel was hoping to get close behind for a good draft down the straight got his front wing into the gearbox of Michal, spinning him around. Michal ended up pointing in the right direction and was luck to only lose 2 positions.

As the race approached ¼ distance, Mostafa was still hanging on to P1 although Mazdarati had closed the gap to less than half a second. Mostafa had bigger problems to worried about than Mazdarati, however, as his right rear suspension was on the verge of failure.

Mazdarati was not about to wait for the failure to happen and made good his pass for the lead again on lap 16. His timing couldn’t have been better as Mostafa lost his right rear suspension as he went through the chicane on lap 17. As he watched his car being towed back to the pits he also watched his hopes of a podium go with it.

Lap 17 proved to be the undoing for Lambat who was having a solid race in P4. As he came through the chicane his right front caught a flying tire that had been dislodged by Mostafa which totally destroy his suspension. A long slow lap got him back to the pits with hopes of a podium gone.

Meanwhile, Antti was recovering from his earlier mistake and was slowly picking of the positions one by one. By lap 21 he was back in P3 and was setting his sights on Black (P2). Catching Black was not as easy as it was the other drivers. It took until lap 28 to get the job done and regain P2.

Michal was next to suffer the suspension woes as his gave out on lap 30. He also was having a good race in P7. A long slow lap to get back to the pits put him well back in the field.

LRK-racer was next to suffer the same fate as his right rear suspension gave out on lap 35, dropping him from P7 to the back of the pack.

Daniel, who had quietly worked his way up to 5th was setting his sights on torberkel (P4) as he started lap 43. Unfortunately LRK-racer was following close behind with a freshly repaired car. As they left the chicane, LRK-racer got a bit too close and just touched the gearbox of Daniel’s car, sending the tortoise backwards into the wall. The damage appeared to be minor but the contact had knocked the left rear tow of alignment making the car a handful to drive. With only 20 laps to go Daniel contemplated pitting for repairs but decided to see if he could coax the car home.

It didn’t take long for Xnyle and Camoradi to pounce on the ailing tortoise and Daniel soon dropped to P7. A couple of laps later Daniel was happy to see Xnyle go in to the pits for fuel. With only a dozen laps to go Daniel was hoping that an 18 second lead would be enough to hang on to P6.

As the race came to a close, Mazdarati had a commanding lead and was threatening to lap the field. Antti had relinquished his 2nd spot earlier to Black and it was looking like he would have to settle for 3rd. Black should have been able to hang on to P2. Unfortunately he made an unforced error at the end of lap 59 and made contact with the wall. A quick trip to the pits for repairs was enough to give Antti the 2nd spot he was after. It also helped toberkel to climb up on the podium in 3rd position.

Mazdarati obliterated the field with the win, ultimately lapping the entire field, just in case anyone was low on fuel they had to complete only 62 laps.

See you next week at Fern Bay with the FOX.
