I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

Staying on the Track at Kyoto
youliftyoulose, Friday, December 20 2013 - 07:51:58 // comment: 0

Race 6 of the 5th season in the Formula Racing series took place at Kyoto Ring GP in the reverse direction. The high powered Formula 1 BF1 was the car designated for this race. As in the previous race, tires were destined to be a problem and keeping them within their optimum temperature was sure to be a challenge. Not only would the drivers have to manage their tires but once the tires became overheated the BF1 was hard to keep on the racing surface, a fact most of the field would discover. A small field of 16 drivers took to the track to put in a qualifying time. Mazdarati edged out Antti to take the pole with a 1:46.56.

Gutholz missing a lot of downforce early in the race.

Camoradi and Gutholz about to tangle.

Cruel Garfield and Gutholz about to end each others race.

Mazdarati survives a late lap scare and takes the win.

As the cars took off from the green lights and screamed to the first corner, Dalda touched the back of Matiss’s car. The light contact sent both cars off track and into the grass. While Dalda tried to untangle himself from the tire barrier, Matiss quickly restarted his race from pit lane. Not making much progress in getting back to the track, Dalda followed suit and let from pit lane as well. Mondbrot, who was trying to stay out of trouble at the back of the field, got hit by a flying set of tires and was knocked off the track and found the grass as well. He also restarted from the pits.

On lap 2 as Antti was making a move on Mazdarati for the lead, Mostafa (P3) lost control going into T1 and spun his car. Although he recovered quickly he found himself back in P9 with a lot of work to do if he was to get back up to the front. Daniel, who had done well to move up to P7, ran a bit wide and got his left tires on the grass which delivered and instant spin and a meeting with the concrete wall, giving his car some early damage. Luckily he only lost a couple of positions and still had hopes of a good finish.

Proving how difficult the BF1 was to drive, Mazdarati left his braking too late as he approached T1 on lap 3 and quickly found the gravel. He recovered nicely and tucked into P4 right behind Cruel Garfield.

One lap later Antti made the identical mistake and followed the tracks Mazdarati had left and went into the gravel, leaving Xnyle in P1.

On lap 5, Mazdarati got a great run on Cruel Garfield and made the pass down the straight. As Cruel Garfield tucked in behind Mazdarati he lost some downforce on his car and was unable to negotiate T1 and after a trip through the tire barriers ended up sideways on the track. Matiss was surprised by the parked car as he went through T1 and although he was able to avoid hitting Cruel Garfield he got a bit too wide and also ended up parking his car sideways on the track a few meters past Cruel Garfield. Daniel, who was following right behind found the front wing of Matiss and went for a 360 degree spin himself. Barely 5 laps in and Daniel was all the way back in P9. While Matiss did not have a damaged car, his tires were on fire from the early spin. A few corners later he found the wall and destroyed his suspension, forcing him to retire.

As the race past quarter distance, the top 5 of Xnyle, Mazdarati, toberkel, Antti and Black had separated themselves from the rest of the field.
One lap later toberkel gave up his 3rd spot as he made hard contact with the wall and severely damaged his right side suspension. Luckily the incident was close to the pit entrance and he dove into pit lane for repairs, returning to racing in P8. That would have turned out to be okay had his pit crew been ready for him. Unfortunately the sent him back out onto the track without making the necessary repairs and he had to repeat the procedure on lap later, all but ending his chances for a good finish.

Meanwhile, Daniel was having a go at Cruel Garfield and made the pass stick down the straight on lap 12. As others had done before he failed to negotiate the tricky T1 and not only gave the position back but found the gravel as well.

Up at the front Mazdarati had finally found a way past Antti and regained the lead.

Xnyle, who was having a great race, was first to perform a scheduled pit stop and gave P1 to Mazdarati on lap 13.

At the halfway point, Black was looking good in P2 as chased rival Mazdarati for the lead. Camoradi looked like a podium finish might be possible as he sat in P3. It did not last long as he and Gutholz got their signals crossed and got together sending both cars off the track. As Camoradi dug himself out of the gravel he found himself back in P6.

With just over 10 laps remaining Black was still in P3 and chasing Antti. He failed to negotiate the temporary chicane and hit the wall hard, forcing him to make an unscheduled pit stop and dropping him back to P6.

On lap 23, Cruel Garfield and Gutholz could not seem to stay out of each other’s way and got together. Gutholz ended up with all 4 tires in the air and Cruel Garfield beached in the gravel. Both cars were forced to retire leaving only 10 cars still racing.

On lap 25 Antti was looking like he had 2nd all wrapped up. He had driven his car hard all race and had not paid enough attention to the condition of his tires. As his left front exploded he careened into the wall causing major damage. As he was close to pit entry if he could pull off a decent pit stop he might be able to salvage an acceptable finish. Unfortunately his troubles were just beginning. He got caught for speeding and was assessed a “Stop and Go” penalty. He tried to compose himself as he was still in P3 with Daniel about 15 seconds adrift. He pulled into pit lane once again and made another unforced error by not waiting for the lollipop to be raised before he took off giving him yet another penalty, sealing his fate of missing the podium.

With only 5 laps remaining Daniel could not believe his pit board as it read P3!

With only 3 laps remaining Mazdarati was had all but clinched the win and was nursing his car and tires home. As he caught up to Mondbrot he was cautiously waiting for a safe place to pass the back marker. Mondbrot slowed up unexpectedly and Mazdarati plowed into his gearbox sent the rookie upside down into the gravel. Mazdarati also found the gravel but was still on all 4 wheels and managed to spin his way back to the track. His sizable lead came in handy as he maintained P1.

The last 2 laps were uneventful as Mazdarati took the win. Xnyle finished in P2 and despite not having as fast a pace as he might have liked, was the only driver to stay on the track for the entire race. The strategy proved to be a good one. Daniel, after having a terrible start, race amazingly finished in P3.
Only 8 cars took the checkered flag proving that driving a Formula 1 car was difficult to say the least.

See you next week Kyoto National with the FOX
