I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

Torberkel – Wins His 1st and 2nd Ever Victory at AB!
youliftyoulose, Monday, February 18 2013 - 09:51:33 // comment: 0

Race 9 and 10 of the 2nd season of the FZ5 series of Absolute Beginners race took place at South City Town in the reverse direction. Each event of the FZ5 series consists of 2 individual races, a short sprint race (no mandatory pit stops) and a feature race (much longer with 1 or more mandatory pit stops). A one lap qualifying session put LRK-racer on the pole as the only driver to get his car into the 1:31’s. Torberkel was showing good pace as he joined LRK-racer on the front row.

Torberkel wins his 1st ever race at AB!. So happy to win he does it again in the feature race.

Turn 2 turns into a parking lot on the 1st lap.

Weaver and Daniel battle for 3rd in the championship.

Two laps from the finish torberkel has his heart racing as he sees DannyS and Mazdarati in his mirrors.
The close walls and tricky downhill going into the hairpin was going to be difficult to navigate cleanly on the opening lap. Before the cars made it to the hairpin, LucasMcFly and Mazdarati got together as they went through T1 for the 1st time. While LucasMcFly managed to keep his car going, Mazdarati was not so lucky, spinning around and falling to the back of the pack.
As the cars headed to the hairpin on lap 1, Lambat turned Camoradi around just as they left the tight corner blocking a large part of the track. The following drivers had a difficult time getting their cars slowed down enough as the yellow came out. As they made their way through Lambat, Camoradi and Carl watched most of the field go by.
Up at the front, torberkel gave LRK-racer a little tap as they left the hairpin just to let him know he was there. The minor contact got LRK-racer out of shape and torberkel jumped into the lead. DuckTape was also all over LRK-racer and rubbed his bumper a little later in the lap. As the two cars straightened out Muc took advantage from 4th and passed both of them into 2nd.
Camoradi had to make an early pit stop on lap 2 to repair the damage from the hairpin incident.
On lap 6 Carl and Knistling made contact and sent each other spinning as they headed down the back straight. Cruel Garfield and Lambat got caught up in the action and also went spinning.
The sprint race settled down after that with torberkel leading the way with Muc and DuckTape close behind. They finished the race off in that order with torberkel taking his 1st ever victory with AB. Congratulations torberkel!. Muc and DuctTape have to be congratulated as well for their podium finish considering they both had 18% restriction.
The top 6 cars added more restriction for the feature race. The feature race was scheduled for 35 laps with 2 mandatory pit stops
The feature race started out with newly crowned winner torberkel at the front. The tight hairpin was the scene for 1st lap problems again. Postal gave Daniel a little tap in the bumper which caused Daniel to bump into Wheldon. Wheldon got sideways and backed up the field as he straightened out. Weaver got turned around in the process and dropped back to 19th. Tmack was the big winner in the mayhem. He entered the corner in 11th and left in 7th as the road opened up right in front of him.
On lap 2 Muc took advantage of a torberkel mistake and took the lead as he left the hairpin.
On lap 3, LucasMcFly, took advantage of a mistake by Daniel and moved past the tortoise into 8th. Daniel, frustrated by the traffic decided to pit early as he had seen his team mated do. As it would turn out it the early pit strategy would work out well for Mazdarati but not so well for Daniel. Coming out of the pits Daniel had Carl on his bumper as well as his team mate Mazdarati. Daniel paid too much attention to his mirrors and missed his braking point going into the hairpin allowing both cars to get by, leaving him in 16th place. Daniel having trouble getting by Kenkku, decided to make his final pit stop and did so on lap 7. That brought him out in last place with a lot of cars to pass to make up any points.
LRK-racer, who had showed such great pace in the sprint race was sitting well in 5th. His engineer had made a fatal mistake in his car setup, however, as his left rear was beginning to melt. After Wheldon got by on lap 8, LRK-racer decided to make a pit stop but for some reason did not correct his tire problem. Although the pit stop cooled the left rear a bit, it was back on fire within 3 laps. By lap 11 the car was becoming un-driveable. On lap 12, with his tire temperatures through the roof, LRK-racer decided to retire.
At the halfway point, DannyS was in the lead with torberkel and DuckTape close behind. Notably, Mazdarati, having started way back in the field had worked his way up to 6th and was looking to improve on that position. The front 3 remained in that order until DannyS pitted on lap 24 giving back the lead to torberkel. By lap 26 the order had changed with torberkel still in front but DuckTape was in 2nd and Mazdarati was in 3rd.
Weaver and Daniel had been battling for good part of the middle race had their contest end when Weaver had a sudden disconnect on lap 28. The unfortunate technical problem will put a real blow to his championship hopes as he and Daniel had been tied going into this weekends races.
DuckTape made his final pit stop on lap 30 and come out in 4th. DannyS used his extra power to get by Mazdarati on lap 31 and move into 2nd. As the final laps wound down, the front 3 of torberkel, DannyS and Mazdarati were all within 2 seconds Mazdarati was left to wonder what might have been had he not had the 1st lap setback in the sprint race.
Torberkel, full of confidence from the sprint race, took 1st again. DannyS, had a great race and took 2nd, with Mazdarati with another one of his miracle drives from the back of the field finished 3rd.
With one more weekend left in the FZ5 series, 2nd and 3rd place in the championship are still up for grabs.
See you next week at Westhill as we close out the season.
